Cargo Cult Rum

Cargo Cult Rum is inspired by an amazing far-fetched but true story set in the South Pacific Islands during WWII. The rum is sourced from remote distilleries on the islands and then blended, spiced, and bottled in small batches in Australia.

With growing interest in the spiced rum category, Small Batch Spirits approached us to elevate the Cargo Cult brand and packaging to suit expansion into the global market.

A key element to the refresh was creating a consistent design system to build brand recognition and shelf presence, with flexibility for new flavour development. The new packaging maintains Cargo Cult’s vintage, locally crafted authenticity whilst adding a modern, premium feel with updated typography and hierarchy.

To this day, on some isolates South Pacific islands, Cargo Cults patiently wait for limitless supplies of cargo to appear over the horizon, as it did during World War Two. To summons the mythical cargo, aircraft towers are built from palm trees, landing strips cleared and fires are still lit. Good things come to those who wait and while the endless abundance of cargo is yet to appear, the rum has arrived.
